Worcestershire 5G's journey started in 2016 when the Local Enterprise Partnership and County Council started to explore the potential benefits 5G could have on Worcestershire. Fast forward to today, they have focussed on applications in Industry 4.0 and Health and Social Care. The 5G team have established strong public and private sector partnerships, secured substantial funding, explored a range of use cases, built UK first of type networks, won innovation awards, demonstrated productivity gains and explored ‘security by design’.

The Worcestershire 5G Consortium, led by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, is comprised of global experts and partners including: 5GIC at the University of Surrey, AWTG, O2 and BT, with local businesses already using the technology including Worcester Bosch, Yamazaki Mazak, and multinational defence company, QinetiQ.
